Thought Of The Week

Do you know  what many people are struggling to live in this world of ours we all look back and say it was not like this when I was young but could it be that people have turned their back on the very person that can help them that being God you see . Prayerless people cut themselves off from God’s prevailing power, and the frequent result is the familiar feeling of being overwhelmed, overrun, beaten down, pushed around, defeated.  Surprising numbers of people are willing to settle for lives like that. The answer to this is to turn back to God He alone has the answer to the world in which we live

Thought of the Day

The New Year is upon us and this is my pray for us all that in the year to come we my all find the following

And during the New Year may you have:
enough happiness to keep you sweet – enough trials to keep you strong,
enough sorrow to keep you human – enough hope to keep you happy,
enough failure to keep you humble – enough success to keep you eager,
enough friends to give you comfort – enough wealth to meet your needs,
enough enthusiasm to make you look forward to tomorrow, and
enough determination to make each day better than the day before.

for then we all will be walking the path that He has laid before us

Some years ago, a cartoon appeared in newspapers across the land. It pictured two farmers in Lincolnshire, standing in a field as snow fell softly. One turned to the other & asked, “Anything exciting happen today?” “Nah, nothing exciting,” said the other farmer. “Oh, there was a baby born over at Samuel Wesley’s home, but nothing exciting ever happens around here.”

But that baby born in the home of Samuel Wesley one day became the founder of the Methodist movement. He changed the course of history & the way in which the church worships today

I wonder if there were people in Bethlehem on that night so long ago, asking, “Anything exciting happen today?” Maybe they were told, “No, nothing much. Oh, I hear some woman gave birth to a baby in a stable, but nothing exciting ever happens around here.” Except that a baby was born, a baby that changed the world. Life counts. Life matters. Your life & mine Lives of shepherds & lives of kings, all are important to God.This is something we all need to remember not just at this time of year but everyday of our lives

Thought of the Week

Here was a gift for each of us left under the tree of life 2000 years ago by Him whose birthday we celebrate today.  The gift was withheld from no man.  Some have left the packages unclaimed.  Some have accepted the gift and carried it around, but have failed to remove the wrappings and look inside to discover the hidden splendor.  The packages are all alike:  In each is a scroll on which is written, “All that the Father hath is thine.”  Take and live! as we at Bethesda Baptist Church Neyland come towards the most blessed day of the year let us all pray for peaces on earth and goodwill towards all but most of all pray that the people who have left the gift unopened under the tree see the great light before them and trust in him who was born to save all

thought of the week

Nothing is more beautiful than our Lord’s forethought!  He was always thinking ahead of the disciples.  When He sent them to prepare the Passover there was found an upper room furnished and prepared.  His plans were not only for that day.  He was always in advance of time!  When the disciples came back from fishing, Jesus was on the seashore with a fire of coals and fish laid thereon.  In the morning he thinks of the day, before we are astir!  After the resurrection, the disciples were bewildered and the way looked black.  But the angel said, “Behold, He goes before you into Galilee.”  He is always thinking ahead, preparing ahead!  “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.  I go to prepare a place for you.” we can all be sure that he knows all and cares for each of us this trust in him as we go about our hectic lives trust in him as the wisemen trusted in the guiding star let him who is able be our guiding star

Who’s Who of the Bible: Barnabas

Barnabas was born in Cyprus. When he became a Christian he sold some property and gave the money to the early church (Acts 4:36). The apostles called him Barnabas, which means ‘son of encouragement’ and Barnabas was a very encouraging sort of bloke. When Paul became a Christian no-one in Jerusalem trusted him, but Barnabas spoke up for him, this beginning a long friendship. He went to Antioch at the request of the Apostles, to look after the church there. It was Barnabas who recognised that the Antioch church really was a movement of God – and he called in Paul to help. Later Barnabas became one of Paul’s most trusted travelling companions. Luke describes Barnabas as ‘a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith’. His name indicates what he was like: a great, enthusiastic, encouraging man to have by your side. Even though he and Paul fell out at time, whenever Paul mentions Barnabas it is with affection and thankfulness.
